I have to take issue with the Nuggets commentators this game. For the most part, they were fine, even if they went a little overboard with the “C-Word”, referencing Jamal Murray. That was too much.
Also the mention of talking to somebody on twitter. As a professional sports commentator, you NEVER want to admit that you use social media. It makes you look dumb, because social media is populated mainly with dumb people.
So that’s two things against them, with a third still to come. Actually, here’s a third right now before the real last one that I’m getting to soon. One of them said BALLS really loudly, and I thought it was funny/offensive. Are white people even allowed to use “ball” as a verb? I don’t think so. That’s something called “cultural appropriation” and it is definitely not okay.
But here’s the real problem with their commentary performance tonight: at the end of the game, after Jamal made his last free throw, one of them said “How about Jusuf Nurkic tonight?”. Are you serious? Jamal Murray just put up one of his best games, scoring 18 points, and you want to talk about Nurkic who hadn’t even done anything immediately preceding the utterance? This is like commentary 101; after a guy hits free throws, you talk about HIM for a little bit, maybe mention his point total and how confident he looks. Don’t irrelevantly bring up an irrelevant player who is irrelevant to the situation at hand.
