I can’t tell if the Rockets are actually good or if it’s just an apparition caused by the blinding glow of James Harden. It’s important for me to be able to tell, so that I can adjust my expectations for Sam Dekker accordingly.
I wanted them to be really bad. Really, really, bad so I could make fun of Mike D’Antoni and so that Sam Dekker could get hella minutes. Is that so wrong? All I wanted was to mock and see a white Wisconsinoid score 10 a game, and instead I have to deal with Harden carrying him and everyone else.
Dekker has made enough strides since getting drafted that I can see him getting decent minutes going forward. Read: he can shoot threes now, which is the only requirement for playing time on this particular team. Also his back is looking pretty good. Nice and sturdy, vertebrae in all the right places, intact spinal cord. That’s the other requirement for D’Antoni.
