The center rotation for the Bucks is all sorts of messed up right now. They paid big bucks to Greg Monroe so they could bench him while playing him 15 minutes a game. They paid big bucks to Miles Plumlee so he could fail to accumulate any stats while starting. They paid big bucks to John Henson to eat Chipotle and look generally disengaged. Monroe is maybe starter quality, but they don’t start him; they would rather randomly oscillate between Henson and Plumlee, starting one while giving the other hardly any minutes at all.
We are now in the Henson stage of oscillation. I can’t tell if that’s a good thing or not, but I’m pretty much past the point of caring about anything Bucks related other than Giannis and Jabari (now sadly too good for my channel 🙁 ). Henson starting worked for them this game, basically because Bismack Biyombo had no idea what to do with him. It was kind of weird. Like, Henson has one move, his lefty hook, and the only thing you need to do to stop him from scoring is to put a big body on him. That’s all. Nothing fancy, yet a supposedly good defender in Biyombo couldn’t stop him.
I would say something here about “If he can keep this up…” but there is no way he’s going to keep this up. He hasn’t been consistent since his rookie year, the last time he scored 20 was over a year ago, he still can’t shoot a jumper (although he has been surprisingly confident with it a few times so far this season), his rebounding has regressed…
When is Thon Maker gonna be ready, again?
