The Nets were surprising me for a little bit there at the beginning of the season, not being as horrifically bad as I had anticipated. It almost seemed like their mismatched collection of castoffs was… good? Or not bad? I wanted to believe.
Too bad, turns out they really just suck after all. They still don’t have Jeremy Lin, who is probs their second best player, but I don’t know how much he can help this squad. To illustrate: The Nets have required Sean Kilpatrick to score 15 per contest. In the NBA. Not the D-League, but the real NBA. It would take a player of elite caliber to drag this team out of the muck and into the playoffs.
Not dissing The Kilswitch here. He’s great, having totally exceeded my, and probably everone else’s, expectations for him. I really thought, when I made that one highlight video of him on the Timberwolves, that we would never hear from him again. But here he is, carving out a decent role on a team that isn’t deliberately trying to lose games. It’s like watching your child grow up, go off to college, get a job, never visit, and then stick you in a nursing home until you die.
