If the Nuggets are really committed to having Wilson Chandler win the Sixth Man of the Year award, they need to stop starting him right now. RIGHT NOW. I don’t know how many starts you can have and still be eligible, but it can’t be very many, and the Nuggets don’t seem to care.
Here’s my DownToBuck coaching protip for the dumbbums who “coach” (note the quotes, because whatever the hell they’re doing it couldn’t be called coaching) that team: don’t put Chandler in the starting lineup, but substitute him in at the first dead ball. Bam! You only lose a minute or two of Ill Will action, and he gets to come off the bench and receive the 6MOY award! This is genius. I don’t know why more teams don’t do this so they can get someone on their team some hardware.
Change of topic: “Ill Will” is seriously the greatest nickname of any active NBA player. Perfect double meaning. I wish I had come up with it. Or… did I? I bet I did. Yeah, “Ill Will” was totally my creation. I remember coming up with it during a brainstorming sesh a few years ago. It’s great to see the Nuggets commentators using it. Very flattering. And humbling. A combination of those things. Fumbling.
