The Boston scorekeepers strike again.
DTB historians may remember a particularly crappy video back in April, showing Tyler Ennis putting up 9 points and 11 assists. I knew, going in, that it was at the very edge of what is acceptable on my channel. What I didn’t know, however, is that the Boston scorekeepers would award handfuls of unearned assists to Ennis, making the highlights worse than boring; they were offensive.
History repeats itself. T.J. “Prime Nash” McConnell racked up 17 assists in the boxscore, an incredible figure that seemingly ranks among the best passing performances of the season. Do not be fooled! 4 of his assists should never have been awarded, if not more; while that doesn’t seem too egregious, it reduces his performance to a mere 13 dimes, which is good, but not as earth-shattering as we were lead to believe. The worst culprit in this video isn’t even an assist by T.J., but a bucket by him. Believe it or don’t: Joel Embiid was awarded an assist for the play starting at 1:38. It’s okay, McConnell only took 6 dribbles, give that man an assist!
There will be no refunds for those disappointed by the quality of this video. Your refund is having your eyes opened to the blatant book-cooking that goes on in the NBA on a nightly basis.
