It’s become a recurring theme in Anthony “Tollbooth” Tolliver’s career: he signs with a new team for some smallish amount of money to play a smallish bench role, and by the third month of the season the team in question is starting him because he fits in better with high-usage players than the higher-paid, more “skilled” players that are on the roster. Eight million dollars per year for two years is a bigger contract that Tolliver is used to, but he was signed with the idea that he would only get the fifteen to twenty minutes that every team thinks he will get at the beginning.
Tolliver got the start against the Warriors in place of Kosta Koufos, and it sort of worked, since the Kings didn’t get BTFO like you would have imagined. In fact, they outplayed the Warriors for three full quarters, but the third quarter was their demise. I fully expect the Tollbooth to collect more tolls in the upcoming games as the Kings have realized, along with every other team that has had this guy other than the Suns, that the Tollbooth cannot and will not be denied his chance to average eight points per game and reliably hit three-pointers.
