I don’t want to see any wiseacre remarks in the comments section down below that say stuff like “Only one gamewinner?” or “He actually had two game winners”. Not a single one. Obviously, I was being funny with the title of the video. And I didn’t want to blow your minds right out of your skulls by revealing how many game-winners Kentavious Caldwell-Pope actually had tonight, which was 9.
My logic is simple and sound: If KCP had missed any of the shots he made, and nothing else changed in the game, the Pistons would have lost. Straight up. They wouldn’t have even made it to overtime, much less the second overtime. Sounds good for The Pope, possibly catapulting to All-Star status, until you consider that Reggie Jackson and Andre Drummond each hit 13 game-winners.
KCP’s shots in the second overtime were flashy and impressive, but no more impressive than the 6 other game-winners he had scattered throughout the game. Most people will remember the “turn and gun” that he had with 9 seconds left to put the game away, and rightfully so. But the true fans will remember every single one of his big shots, not just the final coffin-nail.
