I am happy to report that Michael Beasley has retained a little bit of the insane scoring punch that he offered to Houston last year. I was pretty much convinced that the second he stepped foot in Milwaukee, he’d lose any trace of his former scoring abilities, chucking futilely in the vein of failed Bucks “scorers” like Corey Maggette, Stephen Jackson, and Gary Neal.
As I said, he’s not as good as last year, but it was unreasonable to expect that. He was scoring out of his mind there for a while. This season is more in line with his career scoring rate, despite his limited minutes. Great! All I wanted was for him to not be a total net negative tunnel-vision chucker, and he delivered.
With Giannis out tonight, this was his one chance to regain his glory days and show Jabari Parker who the real best #2 pick is. The amount of opportunity he would get wouldn’t come around again. He did pretty well, scoring 18, but if you, like me, were hoping for 2010-11 lion’s-mane Beasley, it was a bit of a disappointment. Not as big of a disappointment as, you know, his whole career though. OOOOH. DISS.
