Nik “Sucksass” Stauskas had a good first month of the season as he sucked a little bit less ass than is customary for him. However, it all came crashing down again in December, and he went back to being an inconsistent shooter who offers very little in the way of other skills. I suppose we all knew that he wouldn’t keep shooting 50% from the field like he was through November, but it’s still too bad that he’s dropped down to 33% since then.
For a little while there, a little part of my brain still retained hope that Stauskas would not be a bust. That part of my brain is still there, but the hope that was found therein is not. Or, if the hope is still there, it’s occupying one or two neurons at most. In any case, it’s not enough hope for me to detect, so it might as well not exist. Nik Stauskas is a bust. He was picked eighth, has played three seasons now, and can’t really do anything other than be an ineffective scorer.
A change of scenery might help. The Kings are notorious for destroying the players they draft, and the 76ers don’t exactly have a good track record for their reclamation projects either. But for now, the neurons that I was wasting holding onto hope that Stauskas would be good some day are being used to hold images of the cute Latina in my apartment complex who sometimes flirts with me when I’m taking out my garbage. I might be done with women forever but my neurons have other plans.
