Bad news for Jokic fans: Magic Jokson only had one assist last night. Maybe he ate a bad cheeseburger before the game or something and it made him dizzy and sick. Or his coach is sabotaging him for some reason. Anyway, there’s also good news for Jokic fans: Hakeem Olajokon had three blocked shots, which should count for something even if blocks aren’t as aesthetically pleasing as no-look alley-oops. One of them was more like a rebound than a block since I couldn’t really tell if Zubac was even trying to shoot the ball, but who cares, right? Any stat that makes the Jokster look better is a stat that should be given to him with no questions asked. I personally think he should have had ten blocks this game to give him a triple-double. Ten blocks and six steals.
The perverse thing about this game is that Jokic went 12-of-22 from the field (a very good shooting night that every player would love to have) and it brought down his field goal percentage significantly. Shooting 55% from the field in a single game is not good enough when you’re shooting nearly 60% on the season. And, if we’re being honest, it still blows my mind that a player can shoot such a high percentage from the field and still also be a regular three-point shooter.
Jokic is blowing a lot of people’s minds right now, so at least I’m not alone.
