James “Champ” Jones is, after tonight, shooting 21 of 34 on three-pointers this season. That’s 62 percent, for those who understand how percentages work (I don’t). He is also shooting 4 of 12 on two-pointers, which isn’t as good. I guess there’s a reason he’s taken 7 times as many three as twos in his career.
It works for him, so I can’t hate. He was a three-specialist way before it was cool, and now he’s looking at all these young guns pretending they’ve found the secret to basketball success by shooting threes with amusement. He’s been LeBron’s Finals buddy for a long time now, and LeBron has said repeatedly that Jones is the best teammate he’s ever had. If it were another player saying that, I might be skeptical, but LeBron seems earnest about stuff like that, so I believe him.
It’s easier to be a good teammate when you aren’t all that great at basketball compared to your teammates, though. Just saying.
