Otto Porter is currently a beneficiary of the “Martell Webster Effect”. I don’t exactly know what the Martell Webster Effect entails, other than that John Wall is involved and that it’s the reason Martell Webster was really good that one season. Maybe I should’ve saved the presentation of the Martell Webster Effect until I knew more about its mechanisms, but the cat’s out of the bag now. I can’t un-present it.
Or can I? Just forget about this whole Martell Webster dealio for now. Forget I ever said anything about him or tried to name an effect after him. He’s not relevant in any way to the current successes of Otto Porter.
I wish I could explain how Porter became such an efficient player, but I can’t. It just happened, BOOM, just like that. One day, he’s a decent player, nothing special, then the next he’s shooting 45 percent from three, 2nd best in the league, and 60 percent from two, 7th best in the league. He still has plenty of time to regress, which he probably will, right, there’s no way he can keep this up, no way.
No way.
