Sam Dekker scored 17 points last game, a highlight-worthy occasion. But all was not well. In my description for the resulting highlights, I criticized Dekker’s shooting form, pointing out the unnatural amount of arc he was putting on the ball. It had worked earlier in the season, but even then, every shot he made with it seemed a surprise.
His form looks a lot more natural in this one. Just catching and shooting, the same way he always has, and it paid off as he hit 6 triples on his way to scoring a career-high 30 points. I don’t want to take all of the credit here, because Triple-Dekker is the one who hit the shots and scored the points, but I think I deserve like half of the credit for this performance.
Obviously, after he scored 17 last night, he wanted to watch the highlights, and when he clicked on the vid and read my description where I savaged him for his wonky shooting form, he got all sad and introspective and made a pact with himself to shoot it normally from now on. That’s what happened. I know it. How else do you explain his game tonight? This is the kind of game born from sadness and introspection.
Since I was the root cause of those feelings, I don’t think it’s unfair to say that I deserve some credit here. Plus a job with the Rockets as a psychologist. You won’t believe how good Bobby Brown will be when I get done with him!
