Here’s something I just noticed: if you combine Davis Bertan’s two names, you get “Beavis”. Coincidence? You be the (Mike) judge.
Here’s another thing that I have noticed for a while but am just now sharing: Kristaps Porzingis’ status as the most hyped Latvian player on this channel is in serious danger. Porzingis, who is still a sweet player don’t get me wrong, has been in a bit of a slump lately, while that concept doesn’t really apply to Bertans because of how inconsistent his minutes are. As with most NBA fans, I am easily enamored with the new and shiny (Bertans) over the old and dull (Porzingis). I constantly require new role-players to captivate me, and right now, Bertans is filling that role well.
He made 5 of 7 from downtown tonight, and these things barely touched rim. His shot is so smooth, maybe not as versatile as Porzingis, but almost as aesthetic. The Spurs are too good to give him minutes like he had tonight on a regular basis, but that only enhances his mystique. You never know when he’s going to go off like he did tonight. It could be tomorrow, it could be a month from now, but when it happens, you have to call your doctor because it’s been over four hours.
