When Danilo Gallinari has a good scoring game, you can be sure of one thing: he shot a lot of free throws to get there. He’s has 10 games of 20 points or more, and all but one featured 8 or more foul shots. Most featured 10+. He’s made more free throws this season than field goals, which puts him in elite foul-drawing territory with the likes of James Harden, Jimmy Butler, Andrew Harrison, and not really anyone else of note.
So if you’ve been wondering where the Gallo highlights have been this year, there’s your reason. He doesn’t usually make that many shots, which are the meat of any good highlights package. Instead, he draws dubious shooting fouls, not as blatantly as Harden, but still pretty bad. Bad? I meant good. It’s good for winning basketball, bad for dudes who just wanna see buckets.
True to form, he made all 11 of his free throws tonight, but untrue to form, he actually hit a good amount of shots to go with them. Enough shots that I’m actually making a vid of him for only the second time this season. You’re welcome, Italians. Now that I’ve done something for you, can you do something for me? I need you to tell Gigi Datome to come back to the NBA and make sure his manbun is still intact.
