ALERT! TRISTAN THOMPSON MADE A JUMPER!
There was a time, during those dark LeBron-less years, where Tristan Thompson would sometimes, just short of regularly, shoot jumpers for the Cavs. Then LeBron came and replaced Carrick Felix (check out my highlights of that dude for a real scrub-blast from the scrub-past), and he went right back to barely shooting them. With a more potent offensive cast around him, Thompson could focus on what he did best: rebounding the ball and dunking alley-oops.
It’s sad to see a player’s skill development arrested in this way, but it was for the best. His shot form was, and still is, pretty messed up, and sometimes you have to know when to give it up. Not everybody is granted the ability to put the ball in the hole from 20 feet away. The sarcastic cheer’s from the Cavs fans in attendance tonight after he canned what is probably his first jumper in years tells you all you need to know.
