Nik “Sucksass” Stauskas proved my assertion that he is a poor man’s Wayne Ellington by recording a very bare statline last night: no rebounds, and just one assist, one steal, and one block, to go with four fouls and sixteen points. Unlike, say, a Robert Covington, who always fills up the stat sheet with a variety of stats, Nik’s stat sheet often has empty places where the stats are supposed to be.
I suppose I can live with that if he’s as effective a scorer as he was in this game. Six of ten from the field is one of his better shooting performances of the season. Stauskas’ job is to shoot and if he does that job well then there’s not really any more you would want to ask of him, because if you did expect anything else, your expectations would rarely be met.
Unfortunately, Stauskas had his own highlights ruined by his teammate Dario Saric, who stole the show with a no-look pass that eventually turned into a Stauskas three. The relative lack of excitement generated by the rest of the highlights compared with the single insane Saric pass effectively turned this video into Dario Saric Full Highlights Version 2.0. Sorry Nik. Maybe if you were actually from Europe and didn’t just have a European name.
