I came up with a new phrase for the Hawks commentators to say: whenever Marco Belinelli dominates somebody with a strong post move down low, they have to yell “that’s chicken parmigiana right there!” It’s like when Shaq says “BBQ chicken”, except Belinelli’s from Italy so it makes more sense to say “chicken parmigiana”. DTB True Fact of the Day: a breaded chicken breast served with red sauce, hella cheese, and spaghetti is way tastier than some slow-roasted chicken served with BBQ sauce.
The only downside of my fun new phrase is that Belinelli doesn’t get a lot of post touches, and if he does, he certainly doesn’t use them to dominate down low. More likely, he would just shoot a turnaround jumper. Since the whole point of the phrase to belittle the defensive effort given by the opposing player, saying “chicken parmigiana” after a jumpshot doesn’t really embody the spirit of the phrase.
There’s only one course of action: start a letter-writing campaign to coach Bud encouraging him to use Belinelli in the same role that Dwight Howard had last season. I just wrote my letter. Have you written yours?
