I wonder how many times Jazz coach Quin Snyder has told Donovan Mitchell to stop chucking so many swaggy threes. He doesn’t seem like the kind of coach who would be very tolerant of this particular rookie’s propensity for showmanship, but Mitchell also doesn’t seem like the type to ever stop shooting no matter what anyone tells him. So I guess they’re at an impasse.
I don’t have the stats on me, and I’m too lazy to look them up, but I bet the percentage of Mitchell’s threes that are assisted is at 0. I’m thinking back, and I can’t think of a time where he was just standing behind the arc, a teammate passed it to him, and he shot it without dribbling or anything. There are a few where an assist was maybe credited, but those aren’t legit. Mitchell does everything himself, except when it comes to receiving lob dunks from Joe Ingles. Even an uber-talented rookie like him can’t pull off self-oops very often.
