Two good games in a row for Alec Burks? My basketball-reference-fu is not so strong tonight, so I’m just going to assume that the last time that happened was approximately two decades ago. It’s been a while, at least. If he makes it three in a row next game, I can safely say that that will be the first time that has ever happened.
Donovan Mitchell’s scintillating performances have kind of overshadowed Burks, sadly. Am I the only one who remembers when it was Burks who was the young up-and-coming scoring star? I’m guessing most Jazz fans remember (there are no bandwagon Jazz fans), but the rest of the league has forgotten about this dude. It’s great that he’s finally making a resurgence, but it’s not hard to get sad over how injuries completely derailed his career.
Irony alert: the Jazz commentator talking about Anthony Davis dribbling up the court straight into a midrange jumper, calling it a bad shot, right as Burks does the exact same thing.
