Prior to this game, Robert Covington had made ten out of his last 43 attempts from threeworld. This included a 0-of-9 effort against the Cavaliers. Covington’s slump coincided strangely with his brand new contract extension, but I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt and not just assume he played out of his mind the first few weeks of the season so that the 76ers would give him hella money. Is there such a thing as a “contract year”, but shorter? A “contract month”? Anyway, we already determined that Covington was NOT playing harder in order to secure a big extension, so it doesn’t matter.
Even if it did matter, it wouldn’t anymore because Covington’s slump is officially over. If he continues to struggle shooting the ball for the next ten games, it will constitute a distinct slump from the one he just ended. Right at this very moment, Covington is a player who, while perhaps not a HOT SHOOTER, is at least not slumping.
