DeAndre’ Bembry 13 Points Full Highlights (12/4/2017)

DeAndre’ “BUMbry” Bembry has shown quite a bit more inclination to score the ball this season than he ever showed last season, but it comes at a price: he’s currently shooting a neat 39% from the field, not a good mark for a small forward, especially one who probably shouldn’t be taking a lot of jumpshots. In a perfect world he develops a three-point shot and becomes like a budget Thabo Sefolosha, but the three-point shot isn’t there right now (he made one of four attempts this game), so that basically makes him an ultra-budget Andre Roberson with cooler hair and fewer airballed free-throws.

Since DownToBuck doesn’t care about defense, I can’t comment on how good his defense is right at this very moment. People have been telling me he’s a good defender. Sure, I’ll believe it. He’s bad enough on offense that I can’t see how he would see the court, even for the lowly Hawks, unless he was a plus defender. But if defense remains his calling card for the rest of his (possibly short) NBA career, then it’s going to be hard for me to get excited for him when there are equally scrubby scrubs like Chris McCullough who will score more points and more readily get me hyped.
