Bogdan “BogBog” Bogdanovic is one of those players who looks great every time you get to see him on the court, but then you go look at his basketball-reference page and he’s not even doing that good? That’s just what happened to me, at least Having an aesthetic playstyle blinds a lot of people, including me. It doesn’t matter if you’re only making 30 percent of your threes if all the misses looked like they were going to go in. Kristaps Porzingis is another one of those types of players, though his production has caught up with appearances this year. Rashad Vaughn is yet another example, so I guess Bogdanovic will end up somewhere between him and Porzingis in quality. Quite a range!
As the season goes on I’m sure he’ll start finding his range again. He made four triples tonight, a career high, which is a good start. Minutes are there for the taking in the Kings’ totally messed-up rotation, and if he can start hitting a bunch of threes to go along with all those alley-oops to Willie Cauley-Stein, those minutes could be his.
Or, if people really wanted to have some fun, they could send him to the D-League and let him score 40 a couple times. Sometimes when I’m having a bad day/week/life I go to my local YMCA when I know all the old dudes are gonna be there and cherry-pick layups. They don’t record stats there for some reason, but I’m sure I’ve gotten 40 just doing that. Not really the same thing as a hypothetical Bogdomination in the D-League, but it’s close.
