Last season was great, but it would have been a lot better if we could have somehow transported Donovan Mitchell into that rookie class. I didn’t fully realize it at the time, but last year’s rookie class was lame as heck aside from Embiid who didn’t play that much. If Mitchell had been there, I feel like it would have made for so much more excitement. He wouldn’t even need to have been on the Jazz. Like, imagine him on the Bucks. Whoa. What’s this pokey thing in my pants?
As it stands, Mitchell is quickly seizing hype from his other draftees. Tatum is fine, but can he score 40? You can ask that same question of all the other rookies. They’re all fine and good, but do they have the TESTICLES to score FORTY POINTS? No. They do not.
Mitchell had another great game tonight, 32 points with a major portion of them coming on crafty drives to the basket. I used to have respect for Robin Lopez as a defender, but no longer. Slicing and dicing is a nice pair of verbs I would use to describe the scene tonight. Also elevating and detonating.
