Jamal Murray is the fifth best free-throw shooter in the league right now, and he showed off his sick talents at the stripe by going a perfect 6-for-6. Free-throw shooting is an underrated part of basketball; think of how much better Shaq would have been if he could hit those freebies. Think of how many winnable games are squandered by dudes who can’t hit an open set shot from 15 feet away. It’s an area of the game where improvement should be simple and should yield immediate results.
Murray doesn’t need to worry about that. There are other things he needs to worry about, like why he can’t hit threes even though his form his picture-perfect. But his free-throws, man, those things are art. I talked earlier about making a freethrow-ilation for J.J. Redick, well, I might do the same for Murray.
