Why does Ricky Rubio suck now? I might catch some flak for using that term, but it’s true. The Jazz are withstanding it well, but there’s no denying it. The eye-test says he sucks, the boxscore says he sucks, and the advanced stats say he sucks. Especially compared to what we know he’s capable of. That hot start he had to the season? A mirage. A frickin’ mirage of an oasis in the blazing desert heat. I understand that it’s harder to get assists when you don’t have an automatic bucket machine (KAT) on your team anymore, but the last time he had double-digit dimes was in October.
I have no answers. One can only hope that this good scoring display gets him going again. Of course, watching this vid, there’s no way that this is sustainable because of all the crazy stuff he was hitting. During a more normal night, he might have scored 12 with the same shot attempts.
On a more positive note, his hair/beard combo is looking really good still.
