Isaiah Canaan isn’t wasting any time asserting his will with the Phoenix Suns. He’s not waiting around, feeling things out. He’s going out there and doing it. At the end of this one, he runs right up next to Mike James with a few seconds left on the shot clock in a close game, basically rips the ball from his unwilling hands, and scores it. James is probably so pissed right now. You know that movie about the Somalian pirates where the guy says “I’m the captain now.”? That’s what happened. Canaan is the captain now. At least until Booker comes back, which should be any game now.
Booker’s reappearance will mark the end of this crazy guard maelstrom that the Suns have going on right now. Sad, because I like seeing Danuel House run around and do stuff, and I like Canaan and his chubby face and his threes, and Ulis and his genetic defects that made him four feet tall. But I also like Booker because he can score 70 whenever he feels like.
