I don’t know how, but the winning streak continues for the Bulls, this time with a two-point win over the Sixers. Actually, I do know how. It’s because Nikola Mirotic and his twenty points per game on 52% shooting were inserted into the lineup. Any team will get better by simply adding 20 PPG scorers unless you’re the Thunder.
I expect Mirotic to regress to the mean at some point, but there’s some part of my brain that keeps saying, “What if this is the new normal for Mirotic?”. That’s the same part of my brain that always reminds me that Jennifer might be thinking about me as much as I think about her. I try to keep that part of my brain quiet because the optimism makes the sadness of my life even more crushing. Anyway, what if Mirotic simply became a legit twenty PPG scorer while he was laid up in the hospital and we just don’t realize it yet? Maybe while they were doing reconstruction surgery on his face they accidentally excised the part of his brain that regulates his shot-taking tendencies. It’s like setting his sliders to 99 in real life.
