For once, I am not going to blame a Pistons shortcoming on Stan Van Gundy. It wasn’t his fault that Tobias Harris didn’t score 40 after notching 21 in the first quarter. I could probably contrive some way that it was, but that would be dishonest.
The real, honest reason why Tobes failed to fully capitalize on his dominant first quarter was that the Pacers sucked too bad. He blew them out early, then was careful with his shot selection for the rest of the time he was in the game. He was subbed out for the fourth quarter sitting at 30 points, and then the Pacers rolled over and died so he didn’t even get to come back in the game. I thought the Pacers were supposed to be good? That is looking like a funny joke right now.
So Tobias only scored 30. That’s a nice amount of points, but there are dudes who average that many, so it’s not super impressive. 40 would’ve been way cooler, and I’m more than a little miffed that the state of Indiana robbed the chance from us.
