It was sad for me to see, but Vince Carter looked toast this season for the Kings. He had somehow located Juan Ponce de León’s long sought-after fountain of youth somewhere in the jungles of Mexico, and used to put together a nice season for the Grizzlies last year. But this year, it was all gone. The fountain dried up, and all that remained was a 40 year old who could sometimes scrape together a couple buckets in meager minutes.
Until tonight.
He has found a new fountain of youth, this time located in a secluded glade along the Truckee River in western California, much closer to home, and quaffed from its clear waters the mystic elixir which rejuvenated him so vigorously that he could play in an NBA-sanctioned game and score 24 points.
Vinsanity has returned for perhaps the final time, or perhaps not, but we should all take this moment to enjoy all that he has given us throughout his career. Take nothing for granted, and enjoy every bucket for what it is: a work of art on the hardwood.
