The Boston scorekeepers strike again! Terry Rozier had a triple-double tonight, which is great, I’m super excited for him, and I’m not trying to take anything away from what he accomplished, but damn, not all trippy-doobies are created equal. Some of them take place in Denver. Or Boston. Or a few other arenas where the scorekeepers just hand out assists like candy.
Again, I don’t want to diminish Rozier’s excellent night. But I don’t have a choice. I have to speak up against assist inflation in the NBA. These player’s salaries are determined, in part, by biased employees who randomly allocated statistics to whoever they want. Phantom rebounds, blocks that were actually steals, assists where the receiving player stood around for a second, then took a couple of dribbles from the three-point line and scored, can I even trust the stats anymore? The one thing that I thought truthful, factual, is it nothing but lies?
Anyway, Rozier, yeah, who even needs Kyrie Irving? Not the Celtics. As long as they have Brad Stevens, point guard (and also every other position) whisperer, they can make any player into a beast because of the system.
