Danny Green was one of the players who brought the concept of an elite “3 and D” wing into the public consciousness. Do the Spurs win the 2014 Finals without Green’s high level of play? Actually they probably do because Green was nothing special on offense in that series. And they probably would have won a ring the year before if he didn’t go 1-of-12 from the field in game seven. But the point stands. For a brief period of time, Danny Green was the fourth member of the “big three” if you had been forced to add a member to it, and it was because of his shooting and defense. And because he probably has weed connections.
Now Green has been on the decline for a few years now (I blame Lafartus Fartridge) and nobody really considers him a vital, irreplacable part of the Spurs system. Even Spurs fans are tired of his streaky shooting and inconsistent finishing ability. Since he was an elite role-player for approximately four years with the Spurs, it would be a feel-good story to have him finish out his career there, but the world wouldn’t stop turning if he did actually get traded. The Bucks offer one (1) Thon Maker for him. Please make this trade. Please.
