Is it possible to set screens that are… too good? Too bone-crushing? Yes! Jusuf Nurkic had a whole bunch of turnovers tonight, too many I would say, but some of them were unfairly handed out because of the sternum-shattering nature of his screens. Those were legit screens, but because Michael Kidd-Gilchrist is a little baby, Nurkic was penalized. Is it supposed to be his fault that he’s built like a bus?
Luckily, those late “fouls” didn’t cost the Trailblazers the game, even as Kemba Walker went bananas. Nurkic had one of his better offensive games, doing his damage early and letting the chuck bros (Lillard and McCollum) do their thing late. That’s how the Blazers work nowadays, and it can’t be any other way. Nurkic shooting the clutch shots would be fun, but it would result in a lot fewer wins.
