Allen Crabbe just put up the three-chuckingest performance of the season, shooting 18 triples in 44 minutes in this double-OT loss to the Pelicans. He made 8 of them, which is also cool, but not as cool as having the nads to shoot 18 times from deep. Can you say Antoine Walker? Except Walker didn’t usually this many, and actually he never shot this many either.
There have only been 16 instances, including tonight, of a player taking that many threes, led by J.R. Smith’s 22 back when he was with the Knicks. There’s some good names on that list, some okay ones, but Crabbe is the most obscure one there. The list will only grow bigger and more obscure as teams transition to the NBA’s endgame, where games are nothing but three-pointers, but for now, Crabbe can be happy knowing that he is in somewhat exclusive company.
