The Raptors have a really good bench this year. I don’t know how, because when looking at the guys they have as reserves, it’s immediately obvious that there aren’t any big-name players there.
Therefore, in order to preserve my fragile mind, I’m going to go ahead and say that the reason that their bench is so overpowering is because C.J. Miles is really good as an individual chucker. I don’t want to stop believing in the common NBA trope “what you need for a good bench is a guy who chucks tons of shots”. The Raptors might be disproving that theory with a well-round group that plays well together, but I don’t want to hear about it. They can keep their communist Canadian socialism up in Canada where it belongs.
Meanwhile, here in America we will keep our benches going the old-fashioned way: by having a midget shoot tons of inefficient shots for a few minutes until the starters come back in.
