Ish Smith went 9-of-11 from the field in this game, which is something I feel like never happens for him. Whenever he scores a lot of points, it’s because he’s using up a lot of possessions and jacking up a lot of shots. Credit to him for scoring efficiently (even if just for one game) and putting up a statline that lives up to his nickname “Chris Paul 0.4”.
However, with every game that Ish has to start at point guard, the Pistons’ playoff hopes grow more and more dim. They’re only two games out of the eighth spot at the moment (thanks to the Heat being unable to win close games), but their record with Ish at the helm is just 9-14. Am I the only one who thinks that the Pistons should have angled to bring back Pistons legend Brandon Jennings? I can see that either going really well or really badly.
