Normally I don’t like it when NBA players shoot floaters, because floaters are a horrible type of shot that only players who can’t create other looks for themselves shoot, but I’ll give Manu Ginobili a pass on this one. He’s super old. He can move, but every movement increases the chances that his joints will explode in an atomized mist of muscle and bone. He tries to be effective on the court, and he succeeds sometimes, but only because of his incredible savvy.
I kind of get the impression that he’s not going to retire after this season, so I’ll spare you too much eulogizing and reminiscing. He’s still around, he’s here right now helping the Spurs get into the playoffs, just like he has for the last millennia. I wrote a description a long time ago about him punching Father Time in the nuts, and it’s still relevant. The nut-punching continues, and will continue until a random injury takes him out of commission permanently. Luckily his sternum isn’t that important. He can injure that all he wants.
