Tobias Harris trade history:
Milwaukee trades him to Orlando for a half-year rental of J.J. Redick, in an attempt to bolster their playoff chances. They get swept by the LeBron James-lead Heat as the 8th seed. Tobias immediately thrives with his new team.
Orlando trades him to Detroit for Ersan Ilyasova and Brandon Jennings. Both players are gone by the next season. Tobias immediately thrives with his new team.
Detroit trades him and a whole bunch of other stuff to the Clippers for “superstar” Blake Griffin, who proceeds to shoot 40 percent from the field and lead the team to no extra wins. Tobias immediately thrives with he new team.
Notice a trend here? Besides the thriving? I’m noticing a trend here, and that trend is REGRET. Every team that has traded away Harris has regretted the move, if not immediately, then in a very short amount of time. Why do they keep trading him? The grass is not always greener, sometimes the grass is browner and dead-er, and that is usually the side of the fence where Harris isn’t. Let this be a warning to the Clippers. You can let him go in free agency, fine, but don’t even THINK about trading him. You cannot possibly win such a trade.
