The way these Pelicans commentators were talking, it seems like they didn’t like Nikola Mirotic’s shot-selection the last few games. Huh.
Let’s just get one thing straight here: shot-selection is a term made up by crappy offensive players to try and shame good offensive players into shooting the ball less. You think Kobe Bryant would ever criticize Mirotic’s “shot-selection”? What about Michael Jordan? No, they wouldn’t because they understood what it takes to be great. It takes big balls, and the willingness to shoot shots that others are SCARED to shoot.
Who else on the Pelicans is gonna be taking those shots? Anthony Davis, yes, but he can’t shoot it every time, if he shoots even five more times per game his arms will fall off. Mirotic has to be the guy who is willing to win the game for his team. The Pelicans are going to make the playoffs, and in the playoffs defensive intensity goes way up, but Mirotic will be ready. He already knows how to take the tough ones, and he’s going to make life hell for the Miami Heat in the Finals.
