This game had the feel of a “vintage” Nikola Jokic performance to me. The ratio of incredible highlight plays to pedestrian plays has been lower this year for him, which isn’t necessarily bad (no one remembers all those turnovers he had last year because he got too fancy), but it makes his highlights somewhat less exciting. This is the closest I’m going to get to dissing Jokic for a while, so you’d better enjoy it.
So as I said, this vid contains some of that vintage Jokic magic. Not as many of those handoff assists that no one really likes, more of the slick passing, and plenty more of the high-arcing three-point rainbows. And if I made a habit of showing turnovers in my vids, there would be way fewer of them tonight. He was efficient, precise, and the Kings had no answer for him. I like Kosta Koufos, but his inferior hairline stood no chance.
