I was extremely surprised to see that Marquis Teague signed a 10-day contract with the Grizzlies. Surprised, and impressed. I saw how much he sucked in his first stint, and it was the kind of suckage that usually results in a permanent vacation from the NBA. So good on him for apparently doing so good in the G-League that the worst team in the league can stick him on the bench and not play him. That’s way more than I thought he’d ever do.
Those hoping for some brother-on-brother Cain vs Abel (Jeff Teague is Cain, Marquis is Abel) devastation in this game will be disappointed. The lesser Teague didn’t even get off the bench, because his team was somehow good enough to beat the Timberwolves and there wasn’t any garbage time for him.
Jeff showed up for the Timberwolves, like he has been for the last few games (hard not to show up when your coach plays you 40 minutes every game but whatever), and I think Minnesota fans are finally done being super angry at him. He’s not the problem right now. I don’t know what the problem is, probably a lack of Jimmy Butler combined with asinine rotations, but Teague can sleep easy tonight knowing he did what he could.
