I truly believe that a large part of Lonzo Ball’s popularity is due to how fun his name is to say. “Lonzo Ball”.

It’s great. Just a really great name, both in print and vocalized. Distinctive, too. The kind of name you can easily build a brand off of. There’s a reason someone like Paul George is always considered a second-tier star.
I feel like I need to do more research on name quality vs. career quality. Just thinking about it, almost all the best players have sweet names. Does that mean that parents who wish to secure a lucrative NBA career for their son should work really hard to choose the perfect name, unique, but not too crazy? I’m not sure yet. That’s why I say I need to do the research.
