For what seems to be only the second or third time this season, Wayne Selden’s good play led to a Grizzlies win! I don’t know how they managed it, even Marc Gasol playing shouldn’t be enough to take down the Timberwolves, but they did, and Selden played a big part in it. He had 14 points in the fourth quarter. Minnesota had 11.
The only problem is that one of the Grizzlies commentators said he was “making it Wayne”. Normally, that would be a fine thing to say about him, because his name is Wayne and he was making it rain. But that’s what they said when Wayne Ellington had those big games (“big” as in like 26 points or something) for the Grizzlies a couple years ago, and once they used it for him, it’s not allowed to be reappropriated. Have some respect for Ellington, god damn.
It’s good to see Selden get some run here at the end of the season, and I say that because he really reminds me of Rashad Vaughn and damn, do I miss that dude. Selden kind of has the shame shooting stroke and weird interior game, and if I squint hard enough and adjust the colors on my monitor to turn Grizzlies’ blue into Bucks’ green, I can pretend like it’s the good old days.
