Not only is this a career-high in points for Malik Monk, it also ties a career-high in assists. I felt like putting “Career High” twice in the video title made it a little long, so be aware that the adjective “Career High” modifies both subjects. Okay? Just so you know what you’re getting into as you begin this most epic of journeys.
I think that’s the first time I’ve used “epic” in a description and I feel sick. It won’t happen again, I promise.
But how else am I supposed to describe Monk’s performance tonight? He got unchained the last three games, averaging 25-ish minutes per game, and performing adequately, but this is on another level. Orlando Magic? More like OrlaNO DEFENSEgic. He was asserting his will on the court tonight, doing his part in building a huge lead then coming in and making the lead even huger as the Magic faithful sat and wondered where everything went so god-damn wrong.
Charlotte fans can think the same thing, I think. This has not been the most successful of seasons for the Hornets, and I doubt their new GM (who signed Deng and Mozgov to this redonk contracts, don’t forget) will help much going forward, but at least Monk is showing some stuff now. Hope for the future? I hope so, because I hate seeing fanbases so morose.
