This game was a battle of two tanking teams, but not in the way that you expect. The Hawks, obviously are tanking because they want to draft Donte DiVincenzo first overall. The Wizards, on the other hand, are not tanking for the usual draft-related reasons, but trying to arrange things so that they can beat the Raptors in the playoffs again.
The Wizards’ tank was stronger, tonight. Their will to lose was unshakable, even after accidentally getting out to a big lead. Meanwhile, the Hawks seemed to forget what their goal was, late in the game. A bad blunder, but expected out of such a young and inexperienced team. Sometimes you really need a savvy vet or two to lead the way, to lead by example.
Tyler Dorsey was a big part of this win, as he scored more points than he ever had before (in an NBA uniform, I shouldn’t have to add that disclaimer, but sometimes I get dumb-butts who want to talk about Euro stats or whatever). He’s been playing pretty decently recently (rhyme time), but his season stats still look pretty garbagey, so I’m just going to go ahead and call him a bust right now and get it over with.
