If you want a real trip, go look up a picture of Willie Cauley-Stein’s grandparents. I can’t imagine a pair of people less likely to create, even distantly, an athletic freakazoid like WCS. For one thing, they are very white looking. Not going to assume their race or anything though. And what’s up with his grandma’s face? Way too much face for how much facial feature there is, in my opinion.
Hopefully they’re really proud of him, they should be, because he’s making NBA money right now, which is a lot. It doesn’t seem like a lot when the values are always in the single-digits or a little higher. Humans aren’t good at thinking about numbers in a rational way, the “million” at the end of these big-money deals means nothing.
Cauley-Stein has earned his rookie contract for sure, but it’s too early to start thinking about what comes next for him. He hasn’t been the super-duper stud high-impact monster that Kings fans probably wanted, but he’s nice. Solid. Workmanlike. That’s got to mean something for the Kings, even if he would be a lot more valuable to their cause if there was someone on the roster who was a legit star.
