The Lakers fans who were posting mocking comments directed at the Bucks like “thanks for Gary Payton” and “wow why would they cut him he’s so good” after Gary Payton II’s first game with the Lakers fell silent pretty quickly. That Lakers debut, 4 points/4 assists/2 blocks was good, but the success was short lived, as he was made inactive only a few games later.
He only played in 10 games this season for the Lakers. That’s because he’s not a very good player. I didn’t hate him on the Bucks, but the only reason he was on the team was because of how bad his father quit on them all those years ago.
But tonight was the last night of the regular season, I think I’ve mentioned that before, and as you know, that means crazy stuff happens. I’m kind of numb from all the excitement, but the rational part of me says that Payton’s 25 and 12 game is the greatest miracle to occur since Jesus walked across water. He did get 7 rebounds once, so the 12 boards isn’t super-duper ludicrous, but 25 points? I don’t think anyone was prepared for this. Obviously I wasn’t, because I don’t even have a story prewritten about him and his dad doing some wacky things, and I’m under a serious time crunch right now.
I might update this description with more info once I can feel my arms again.
