If Jerry Reynolds retiring means that we have to hear Doug Christie with regularity on Kings broadcasts, that’s not going to be okay. I get the Reynolds is getting up there in years, but that doesn’t mean he has to stop now. Just when the Kings are on the cusp of a breakthrough? He had to suffer through the whole DeMarcus Cousins era and is going to give up before the playoffs are finally reached? It’s his choice. Hopefully Christie has calmed down a lot since his first test runs last season.
The biggest disappointment for me this game was that Bruno Caboclo didn’t get to play. The last game of the season is, historically, his time to shine. Yeah, he’d been getting minutes before then, for the first time in his career, but final-game Caboclo is an unstoppable beast. Did Willie Cauley-Stein really need to play 30 minutes? Nuh-uh. Same for all the other “good” players that played way too much. WCS was the major force leading his team to a win (which I don’t think messed them up too bad lottery-wise), but that’s beside the point.
And if someone doesn’t talk me out of Jack Cooley 10 Points/8 Free Throws highlights, they’re going to happen. I’m standing on the edge, looking at the abyss, and jumping in sounds like a pretty good option right now.
