Nikola Jokic just set back Serbo-Turk relations a couple centuries with the way he abused Enes Kanter tonight. I feel like I should double-check my historical facts to see if the Ottoman Empire ever abused Serbia or if Serbia ever abused the Ottomans or if they were even enemies at all or if they had friendly relations, but I’m not going to bother right now. I’m sure their relations were complicated across the centuries of convoluted history on the European continent, with their respective territories changing ownership and leadership countless times. Hopefully I don’t make anybody sore with my flippant observations. I know Euros can get sore about those things sometimes.
All that said, Enes Kanter has a long list of people he hates, and Jokic is probably on this list officially as of tonight. Meanwhile, I don’t know that Jokic hates anybody or anything particularly. He doesn’t seem to have a ton of emotions other than the emotions that are specifically useful to succeeding at basketball. If he has a “hate” list, it probably contains things like “getting served weak coffee in the morning” and “subscription to Serbian news site failed to auto-renew” and “too many potheads in Colorado”.
Jokic’s ancillary domination of Noah Vonleh has fewer socio-political ramifications and so will only be mentioned in passing here at the end of the description.
